Recently I had the chance to collaborate with some amazing wedding vendors to do an autumn themed styled shoot. For those of you who don’t know what a styled shoot is (don’t feel bad, I had no clue before I got into the industry), basically its a chance for different wedding vendors to collaborate together to provide inspiration to engaged couples who are planning their wedding. Think “mock wedding” without all the guests.
I had a terrific time working out the details with wedding planning company Moss & Maeve (run by the fabulous Sarah Tokarz and Emma Clark). Their vision and coordination was superb! When they showed up to the venue with the floral arrangements (Bliss Wedding Florist, Fort Collins) and decorations (Colorado Party Rentals) I was absolutely blown away by what each vendor had brought to the table, pun intended! Sarah and Emma have great style and are extremely hard working. Emma drove all the way to Fort Collins and back starting at 5:30 in the morning just to get the flowers. Talk about commitment to excellence!
When we were planning the styled shoot and discussing the autumn theme, I couldn’t help but recommend the private estate of friends and clients Toby and Molly. They were so kind to have let me photograph a recent senior portrait session on their property and were more than willing to let us use their property for this shoot. Toby and Molly, thanks again so much! The aspen trees, field, and rocky overlooks were just the backdrops we needed.
Sarah’s close friends Cassidy and Kai were fantastic models to work with. Having recently been married this summer they were confident and easy to pose in front of the camera. Cassidy looked phenomenal in her makeup by Smash Beauty Bar and the super talented Laura Gravina made her hair simply stunning. Brilliant Bridal provided the stylish Theia Couture dress while Sarah O. Jewelry was kind enough to lend us two remarkable wedding rings as well as earrings. Finally, Janny at Unruffled Soul created inspiring stationary with beautiful green and blue highlights.
The end results were indeed inspirational. At the end of the shoot I didn’t want to pack up and leave. I wanted to sit down at the table with my wife and have a lovely dinner together while we held hands and watched the sunset. I wanted to stop time itself and let that golden fall sunshine soak into my skin. I wanted to photograph every aspen leaf, even if that would take a year to accomplish.
Moss & Maeve thanks for putting this shoot together and for doing remarkable work in your coordination. Well done and high fives all around to everyone involved!
